| Indiacar's answer : Jayanthmurukonda, Please do not confuse yourself with all these questions. The power of the engine is considered from its Power (BHP/PS), torque and power to weight ratio, all these factors considered in the sequence mentioned respectively. |

My daily drive usage is around 20 kms in Mumbai with 2-3 annual road trips of about 700+ kms each. Considering this I have shortlisted 2 cars - The Honda City SMT and the Scorpio SLE. I know thay are completely different segements, but I love both and am unsure which would make more sense for my purpose and also have lower maintainence costs in the long run. Kindly advice. |

Though you may enjoy the Scorpio for its highway performance, it will be a impractical option for your daily movement in the city, except in conditions where you require that extra boot space for luggage during long drives and you have more members to carry on those long drives. The overall maintenance and ownership cost of the Honda city will be lower as compared to the Mahindra scorpio. |

I am interested to Purchase a New/Used Car. I am right now owing an Accent VIVA ABS Petrol converted CNG. Done 96000 and Maintenance cost has been ruined me. Two time engine overhauled still not satisfactory. Noise like Diesel engine. Performance is very poor now.
I just want to sell it out and want to get a new one. My favorite car is Honda Civic. My daily run is average 100 KM. I am planning to buy an used Civic for 6lacs and convert it into CNG.
My questions are??????
1) Should I go for my fav Civic with CNG(cant afford petrol) or I should go with some diesel cars.
2) CNG reduce engine life or not?
I am totally confused. Please help me.

| Indiacar's answer : Prejith, vehicles run on CNG run on higher temperatures. The engine oil generally replaced by workshops is not suitable for vehicles run on CNG and hence the life of the engine is reduced. There are CNG specific oils for the purpose. CNG technology is not commonly known to all presently and hence you may face service issues. In case you are driving only in the city then you can have a petrol vehicle retrofitted with the CNG kit, you need to ensure that you use only CNG specific oil with regular oil changes for the vehicle and you will have a normal engine life. Alternately, go for a diesel vehicle. |

As per your advice I bought cheverrlet Beat LT on Dec 2010. Now I want to upggrade my headligt. I have fitted Osram Nightbreaker headlight. Its perforrmance is not bad. The local car palourr advised to install P-8 HID headligt. It cost 8900 rupees . How good is the performance of HID ? And how good is P-8 brand ? I also want to upgrade Fog lights. | Indiacar's answer : Atanu, there are various HID lamps available in the market, however, I would recommend the installation of original BOSCH HID units. As regards to the fog Lamps, I would recommend to stick to original lamps as Higher intensity lamps during foggy conditions will have adverse effects on visibility. |

| manab question : I have shortlisted two cars Hondacity EMT and Hyndai CRDI1.6. I will be doing 20000 KM /year. I am planning to keep the vehicle for more that 6-7 years .As i myself will be drving driving comfort is a must. Please advise . Is it that diesels are more maintenance prone and spares are costly.What about maintenance requirement of Hondacity and its spare cost? |
| Indiacar's answer : Present day diesels are having advanced technology.It used to be the earlier technology when the diesels were dirty and would be expensive or laborous maintaining. Yes the cost of diesel spares is higher than that of petrol spares, but when you calculate the overall cost of ownership it is lower. I would recommend buying a diesel car over a petrol vehicle. |
