Introduction

Ikon Gets Rocam Josh

Ford India has woken up to harsh reality and gone in for a series of product upgradations starting with developing a new head for the 1.3-litre engine. That there is a contemporary option to the antiquated pushrod engine that powered the 1.3 Ikon is good news indeed. OVERDRIVE tests the 1.3 Rocam engined Ikon to find out just how big a step forward Ford has taken.

The one company that is lending ears to feedback from OVERDRIVE as well as from its customers, that much we can surely say for Ford India. After the criticism that the company came in for from OVERDRIVE for introducing the antiquated 1.3-litre pushrod engine in India and the dissatisfaction shown by users over its poor driveability, Ford India decided to develop a new engine to power the smaller capacity variant of the Ikon. The work is complete and soon after this issue of OVERDRIVE hits the stands, Ford India will be ready to unveil the Ikon powered by the newly developed 1.3-litre Rocam engine. The road test reveals how much of a better car the new Ikon is.
